xD! 'Nissa, i dunno whether we're channeling each other's brain-vibes or what. i just saw your pic and whaaatttt Shenlong for you, too!?

OK ANYWHO yea, this week's theme: Tim Burton! woooo! it's not his style exactly 'cos hey, i'm not Tim Burton and my brain can't comprehend his scratchy, sketchy style n' retain that awkward charm. this is me figuring out his sensibilities and wondering how he'd re-imagine the DBZ universe. like, i could totally see Goku being a ghost 'cos how many TIMES has he DIED! he's dead throughout like, half the series! and Gohan would be plain creepy and nerdy and cute. Picollo would just be...creepy and bat-like, hunched over from brooding so much. and poor Kryllin. he always gets the short end of the stick and would have to be sewn back together from getting beaten to a pulp so many times.

this was a fun challenge. trying out another person's style can really help you reevaluate your own. you pick up some of their stylistic quirks, adjust them n' tweak them for your own use. you see that "oh! that's neat how this guy draws his arms this way" or "hey! i never thought of drawing that shape for that type of character!". it helps you grow. of course, that does NOT give you free reign to consciously yank another person's style completely and call it your own. don't be lazy.

geez, lemme get off my soapbox. i hope this doesn't look too weird or dark on your monitor. my laptop monitor isn't calibrated and i'm too cheap to fix it. :B if it's dark lemme know n i can fix it.

next week's theme: Bruce Timm!
